Our Town

OUR TOWN brings together for the first time the work of three theatre companies – auéééu – Teatro, Os Possessos and Teatro da Cidade. Written in 1938 by Thornton Wilder, the play is regarded as an American classic. It tells a story about Grover’s Corners and its people, through whose lives we observe the social and technological transformations of the early 20th century. The extreme care the author employs bringing a little town to life is an effective device, highlighting that which, through endless transformation, remains constant: life and death, love and the experience of time. These are the struggles that these companies wish to play upon the ever-changing, ever-constant stage.
