The spectator sits in the dark, in the theather or in the movie theater.
The spectator wants, through identification, to achieve the so called “catharsis”.
If theater and cinema are, par excellence, the place where we will see ourselves reflected, what place has been reserved for Woman in theatre, from Classical
Antiquity to the post-dramatic age of the twentieth century, in the fables brought to the scene? And which cinema shaped our ways of seeing?
Now, in the XXI century, which Antigone? Which Ifigenia? Which Blanche Dubois? Which Gertrude? Which Merteuil?
What do we keep saying today, when we say them?
