ÁguasMil — Beatriz Garrucho
Here, I’m at the surface with me, there, I’m at the bottom with you. I left home in order to find myself with others, through meetings that are small moments of celebration. A thousand waters is a solo that ritualises and celebrates the cry on a continuity of endings. Fuck, let’s kill evil in the bud and also of course, have the courage to recognise the end. I wanted it to be like a jubilee, a party, indulgence because I want it to end with a celebration. So that’s it, going to the rotten, and then the light, the rotten and then light again and again. All of this inside a bathtub, I enjoy it, if the water is super hot and our bodies are like a church up in flames.
About Beatriz Garrucho
BEATRIZ GARRUCHO lives in a small village called Ermida until she’s 14. In 2008 she moved to the city of Aveiro to pursue Visual Arts and she joined the local theater group GRETUA. She moves to Lisbon in 2012 to start her studies at ESCS while simultaneously in 2014 and 2015 she was a part of GTN. She pursued formal training in the performative arts at ACT from 2016. * In 2018, she integrated the play Jornalismo, Amadorismo e Hipnotismo by Rui Catalão part of the programing of the theatre Dona Maria II. She was part of two productions of CasaBranca, O Gatilho da Felicidade (2017) and Romance Familiar (2019) both by Ana Borralho and João Galante. In 2019 she was invited by Filipa Matta to participate in Bioluminescência, joining the team as a performer and co-creator, the piece was screened on Portuguese national tv, RTP2. In May of 2021 she presented her first creation, O Laranjal on Rua das Gaivotas 6. She is then invited by Agência 25 to integrate the project Sabotagem, to promote several artistic residencies as well as several other agencies and performative spaces such as Kebra3000 by Jaja Rolim. She has also integrated as an artist the production of O Sétimo céu of Momento, directed by Diogo Freitas. And between October and November of 2021 she was in artist residency at Pedreira in Oporto for Águasmil, her newest creation through which she has explored a new creative process from the interchangeability of installation, presented at Lavadouro da Presa Velha. She also participated as a performer for COSMIC MONEY HEALERS, a performance by Luísa Mota.
