ATSUMORI — opera noh
Dance project inspired by the Noh Theatre play Atsumori, portrayed in the work “The Tale of the Heike”, where a 16-year-old warrior, Taira no Atsumori, is killed in combat by General Kumagai no Jiro Naozane, of Clan Genji. Kumagai then renounces the world and assumes the priestly name of Renshō, dominated by the tragedy and inconstancy of life.
Having studied this Noh play, in 2018, during the Traditional Theater Training Program at Kyoto Art Center / JP, I decided to create a version of it, from personal visions that echoed in my imagination.
The residency at Espaço do Tempo will be the first moment of choreographic and dramaturgical study of this project.
